The new feature brings all of the information that a user may need into one place, including details about traffic simulations, bike lanes, complex intersections, parking and more. You can view the route from multiple dimensions and angles, check for minor obstacles, and even simulate rainy weather to see if still useable under adverse conditions. Google’s AI capabilities fuse billions of Street View imagery with aerial photos to create a rich “model” of the city. This lets users visualise their route even before they set foot on it, which is great for drivers, cyclists, and even pedestrians trying to navigate a new area.Īccording to Google, journey preview is possible via the computer vision collected by Google Maps. Immersive View now extends its capabilities to Google Maps’ routing feature, allowing users to preview their real-life route in the same extreme detail you would get from Immersive View. This year, Google has expanded this feature further by introducing journey preview with Immersive View at Google I/O 2023. Last year, Google introduced Immersive View to Google Maps, letting users explore a city with extreme detail and check out areas of interest from their phones.
